Wits Business School

Part of the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, Wits Business School is notable for its variety of postgraduate degree programs. With a main campus in Parktown, Johannesburg, the school offers a modern, dynamic learning environment to its students, taking its inspiration from the design of the Harvard Business School campus.

Sun Yat-sen Business School

One of only three business schools in mainland China, Sun Yat-sen Business School offers internationally renowned business education to both domestic and international students. The business school is partnered with over 80 international institutions, which allows it to offer collaborative learning experiences and student exchange programs. Pacifico Business School

Located in the city of Lima in Peru, Pacifico Business School is one of the top study destinations for postgraduate business education in the Latin America region. With an academic program that’s focused on providing extensive training and academic excellence to its students, the school is a regular feature of international rankings.

The school is part of Universidad del Pacífico which was established in 1962. The university has been teaching degrees in management and economics since the late 1960s, and says within its mission statement that it “produces entrepreneurial leaders with dedication to service and committed to building a fair society”.

Gatton College of Business and Economics

Part of the University of Kentucky in the US, the Gatton College of Business and Economics can trace its origins back to 1925 when the university founded a College of Commerce. A range of undergraduate and postgraduate business degrees are offered by the college, focused primarily on business, economics and accounting.

The college is housed within the Gatton Business and Economics Building, which has been recently renovated as part of a $65 million project. The work, completed in 2016, added new classrooms, student assembly spaces and an auditorium.

The University of Kentucky is the largest university in the state by enrolment, with over 30,500 students. The university strives for a diverse cohort, with a high number of out-of-state students. While most students live on campus (there are 23 residence halls in total), the city of Lexington where the university and business school are based is well worth exploring.

Hong Kong Baptist University, School of Business

The Hong Kong Baptist University’s School of Business has been offering business education for over 50 years. The school is among the top one percent of the world’s business schools to be accredited by the leading three international accreditation bodies (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS) and has also been featured in global business school rankings.

Students at the business school have access to cutting-edge facilities, including a Bloomberg laboratory that enables students to experience one of the most powerful technology systems used by finance professionals across the world to monitor and analyse real-time financial data. The school also offers students access to a Datastream laboratory, a Behavioral Research laboratory, and a Simulated Trading laboratory.

 

Goethe Business School

Part of the Goethe University in Frankfurt, the Goethe Business School was first established in 2004. It offers an extensive selection of business programs for young professionals and executives, including some part-time programs which can be studied alongside work.

The school focuses its teaching on six key topics: Finance Management, Bank Management, Risk Management & Regulation, Leadership & Personal Development, Strategic Management and Corporate Social Responsibility. MLV - Management School

EMLV - or to give the school its full name the Ecole de Management Léonard De Vinci - is a business school located within the main business district in Paris, one of the world’s top student cities. Accredited by the French government and recognized at a European level by ENQA, the school offers a progressive five-year study program with opportunities for specialization and industry experience contained within it.

The school provides consulting services to established business partners, enabling students to gain real-life business experience through exposure to actual business cases. International students are welcomed to the school through various exchange programs and EMLV students are also encouraged to participate in study abroad programs. This combination of global experience and real-world exposure mean EMLV students are well-prepared for the global business workplace.

The highest proportion of EMLV graduates go on to work in finance, insurance and financial management, while auditing, consulting and media are also popular career paths.

Thammasat Business School

Thammasat Business School can trace its history back to 1938, making it the second-oldest business school in Thailand. The school offers an extensive selection of business degrees, including programs focused on logistics, international business, finance, marketing, and real estate management. As well as a four-year bachelor’s degree, the school offers a five-year program which combines both bachelor’s and master’s degrees into one program of study.

The school is notable for offering Thailand’s first English-taught international business program, and also holds Triple Crown accreditation (from EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB), something only one percent of business schools around the world have achieved.

Thammasat University is one of the most selective in Thailand with a very competitive admissions process.

National University of Ireland Galway

The National University of Ireland Galway was first established in 1845 and initially opened to teach just 68 students. Today, it’s home to over 17,000 students taught across four colleges:

  • College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences
  • College of Science and Engineering

The two-year program aims to balance theoretical training with hands-on learning. In their first year, students will work on the core skills in all areas of finance. It scores well across all the indicators, particularly the alumni outcomes, value for money and thought leadership indicators. Graduates of the course earn an average salary of US$100,000 and 94 percent have a job placement six months after graduation.

This 15-month program aims to build deep mathematical modelling skills and computational expertise. In addition, student apply their knowledge in real-world settings through the completion of an Applied Finance Project (AFP), in which students work on real client projects with potential employers, broadening their professional network. Students also have access to prominent leaders in financial engineering in the school, with a student/faculty ratio of 3:1.

Dropping one position to joint seventh in this year’s QS Masters in Finance Rankings is ESSEC Business School, a French institution which has grown to open campuses in Singapore and Rabat, Morocco.

ESSEC achieves very strong scores for its alumni outcomes and value for money, with 100 percent of its finance students employed six months after graduation, often in world-renowned banks and companies. In the first year of the 15-month course, students are required to complete a six-month long internship. The degree itself is also incredibly career-orientated and offers three specialised tracks in corporate finance, financial markets and fintech and analytics.

 

 

6. UC Berkeley Haas School of Business - Master of Financial Engineering

Back in California, the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business falls one place this year to now ranks sixth in the world for its Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) degree. It also receives a perfect score for the thought leadership indicator, as well as high scores for the alumni outcomes and value for money indicators.

A one-year program, the MFE degree prepares students to take on cutting-edge roles in investment banks, commercial banks and other firms around the world. MFE students take part in a 12-week internship, with placements at companies such as Citibank, BlackRock, and Goldman Sachs. Students also receive continuous personalized careers advice throughout the program.

 

 

5. The University of Cambridge Judge Business School – Master of Finance

The University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School is ranked joint for its Master of Finance (MFin) program. The school receives a perfect score for employability and a very high score for alumni outcomes, with students enjoying an average salary increase of 89 percent following completion of the program, bringing their average salary to around US$131,821. Further, 91 percent of students are in employment three months after graduation.

The school’s 12-month MFin course has been designed in consultation with the banking and finance industry and consists of a mix of core courses and electives, allowing students to tailor their course and gain specific skills in topics such as advanced corporate finance, private equity, Asian capital markets and mergers & acquisitions.

The MIF is taught by world-class researchers and influential practitioners to offer students a blend of theory and practice. HEC’s MIF degree is taught entirely in English and gives students the opportunity to go on a study trip to London, choose from a number of free electives, and follow a specialization track in corporate finance or capital markets. 

 

HEC Paris received full marks for alumni outcomes and value for money, with 99 percent of graduates finding employment within three months of graduating, with an average starting salary of around US$74,600.

The course places an emphasis on hands-on learning, with its finance action learning courses offering opportunities to engage in real-world business challenges and gain relevant experience.

London Business School (LBS) is up two places this year to rank joint second in the world for master’s in finance degrees in the QS Masters in Finance Rankings. The course is best suited for students with three to eight years’ relevant experience and focuses on key financial concepts including investments, corporate finance and evaluation, and financial analysis. It also offers students the chance to gain a global perspective and build an international network of contacts.

It receives very high scores in three indicators: employability, alumni outcomes and value for money. LBS boasts an excellent career center which helps students through one-to-one coaching, practical networking skills and mock interview skills. Eighty eight percent of the course’s 2019 graduates were employed only three months after graduation.

This is at least partly due to ESADE’s strong connections with leading companies.

7. USC Marshall School of Business - Master of Science in Business Analytics

Over in California, the University of Southern California (USC)’s Marshall School of Business places seventh this year in the Masters in Business Analytics rankings, dropping one place this year. USC Marshall achieves a near-perfect score in the alumni outcomes indicator, with many of its graduates working at large international companies, such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Airbnb.

The school’s Master of Science (MSc) in Business Analytics is an 18-month, comprehensive program which emphasises project-based learning. The program encourages students to explore real-world business challenges and problems in a range of different business areas.

 

 

6. University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business - Master of Science in Business Analytics

 

Location: Austin, Texas, US

The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business is ranked sixth for its Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) degree, falling two places this year.

The course receives the highest score in the top 10 for the value for money indicator, which shows that graduates are seeing a good return on their investment from this master’s degree. McCombs offers students support and recruitment from industry leaders such as Walmart and Deloitte Consulting, a STEM certification, networking opportunities and industry connections, and lots of support in finding employment upon graduating, contributing to its high score in the employability indicator.

 

 

5. Imperial College Business School – MSc Business Analytics

Heading back to the UK, Imperial College Business School maintains its position as fifth in the world for its 12-month MSc in Business Analytics this year. It achieves its best score in the employability indicator, with an impressive 97 percent of the school’s graduates in full time work only three months after graduating.

The course itself is grounded in technical and quantitative training, but electives and projects are sector focussed, giving students the opportunity to tailor the program to their own interests and career aspirations. Imperial has now launched a two-year online version of the program, which follows the full-time curriculum almost identically.

 

4. ESCP Business School – MSc in Big Data and Business Analytics

ESCP Business School’s one-year MSc in Big Data and Business Analytics course allows students to study at either its Berlin campus or its Paris campus. At both campuses the course is taught in English.

 

The MSc course claims that its aim is to understand the significance of data in today’s business world. The course helps students build their technical, analytical and communications skills to help them manage large data sets and drive organisational change. The course earns a perfect score in the value for money indicator this year, which takes into account graduate salaries, cost of living and tuition costs.

 

 

3. ESSEC/CentraleSupélec - MSc in Data Sciences & Business Analytics

 

Location: Paris and Singapore

Two of the most prestigious universities in FranceESSEC Business School and CentraleSupélec, are ranked third in the world for their jointly offered MSc in Data Sciences & Business Analytics program, achieving very high scores for alumni outcomes and employability.

The course takes up to two years to complete and is taught entirely in English. Students can take up to 18 advanced elective courses and can major in one of three major options in period two: Data Sciences and Business Analytics, both in Paris, or Digital Strategy, offered at ESSEC’s Asia-Pacific campus in Singapore. The school encourages ‘learning by doing’ and students will get the opportunity to take part in a four to six-month internship, write a final thesis and go on an international field trip.

The program’s graduates earn an average base salary of US$110,000 and 100 percent find work within six months of graduation.

The degree aims to prepare students to interpret and use the tools of modern data science, optimization and machine learning to solve real-world business problems. The QS Global MBA Rankings 2021 have been released today, ranking business schools from around the world. The rankings are also split up into regions: Europe, Asia, Oceania, Latin America, US and Canada.

Next is the full-time MBA from the University of Hong Kong. The one-year program is intensive with three tracks available for students to choose from. All students spend nine months in Hong Kong to study Asia-Pacific focused core and elective subjects. Then, depending on the track they choose, they spend four months in London, New York or Hong Kong/Shanghai to further strengthen their global business knowledge.

 

6) HKUST Business School

Gaining three places from last year’s rankings, HKUST’s MBA program scored highly for thought leadership, coming in sixth. 5) China Europe International Business School (CEIBS)

Halfway through the list is CEIBS, which offers an 18-month full-time MBA taught entirely in English. 4) Nanyang Business School, Singapore

Rowe’s Corporate Residency program incorporates a number of classes, including: Corporate Responsibility, Ethics & Society; Self-Management & Engagement; Management Without Borders; PPE Capstone: Leading & Influencing.

Students also utilize the program’s Corporate Residency (eight-month paid work experience) element. Many students are offered full-time positions by their corporate residency employers.

Students have the option to participate in an international exchange in their final semester (January to April). Participants can travel to exchange schools in Chile; Brazil; Spain; Netherlands; China; Singapore and more.
