About
North-Eastern Federal University is one of the leading research and educational centers in the Russian Federation. The University has 3 branches: Technical Institute in Neryungri, Mirny Polytechnic Institute, and Chukotka Branch in Anadyr. NEFU has 5 research institutes, 12 institutes, 6 faculties, 115 subfaculties (99 of them are degree-granting), 4 departments, 2 colleges, University Lyceum, 19 RECs, a student business incubator, 36 academic and research, research, and academic and research technologic laboratories and 5 museums. NEFU established and operates following "unique" units: UNESCO Chair, Law Clinic, NEFU Medical Clinic, Botanical garden, the Mammoth Museum, P. A. Lazarev Institute of Applied Ecology of the North, Arctic Innovation Center, the Institute of Olonkho, and the Institute of A. E. Kulakovsky.
The university has more than 18 thousand students from 46 foreign countries and 42 regions of Russia. Research and academic projects and programs are successfully implemented thanks to the well-coordinated work of more than 1,300 research and teaching staff, of which about 70% have academic degrees.
NEFU is a multidisciplinary classical university. It has 152 training programs and implements more than 460 basic educational programs and more than 500 programs of additional professional education. Every year, 8-9 thousand employees of enterprises and organizations of the Far Eastern Federal District undergo advanced training under NEFU programs.
NEFU is the only university in the Far East that is part of the network of reference universities of PJSC Gazprom. It also cooperates with Rosneft and has "Oil and Gas Engineering" specialized department with Tas Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha. In 2019, NEFU became one of the ten partner universities of the multinational oil and gas company British Petroleum. In 2019, 17 undergraduate students, 3 graduate students, and 1 post-graduate student were awarded BP scholarships.
NEFU has created an innovation ecosystem, the core of which is the Arctic Innovation Center. The number of university RIAs has increased 180 times since 2009. At the end of 2019, NEFU Technology and Innovation Support Center was included in top 15 best technology and innovation support centers in Russia.
Currently, there are more than 500 international students at NEFU. More than 150 partner agreements with universities and research centers from 25 countries allow us to expand our academic mobility and to develop joint research and educational programs. Every year, more than 200 students and postgraduates participate in exchange programs.
