SHLSchweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern is a competence centre for appliedhospitality management with national and international recognition. Founded in1909, SHL is a leading professional-oriented hotel management institution in thestriking, lake-side city of Lucerne, Switzerland.

SHL is one of the two original Swiss hotelmanagement schools and offers one of the only two Bachelor of Science inHospitality Management degrees in Switzerland accredited by the Swiss federalgovernment and in compliance with the Bologna Declaration. As the only hotel management schoolrecognized as part of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Lucerne(HSLU), SHL students are guaranteed educational excellence as well as ensureddegree recognition throughout Europe and the world.

The SHL Bachelor programme

TheSHL Bachelor in Hospitality Management programme is a full-time, four-yeardegree programme in English, including two paid internships.

Semesterone lays the foundation: Students get familiarised with the fascinating worldof a hotelier. Through a combination of practical experience and theory inF&B, they internalise the attitude of hospitality professionals in boththought and action.

Thefirst industry internship follows in the second semester, where students willput the supervised work experience from the first semester into practice inSwitzerland.

Insemester three students concentrate on Rooms Division. Along with Front Officeand Housekeeping, this semester covers the environmental impact and financialaspects of managing the core departments of a hotel.

Duringsemester four students get their second industry experience, where they canapply their skills at a higher level of responsibility in any of the areasrelated to Rooms Division.

Thefollowing two semesters focus on Business Administration and HospitalityManagement,

withemphasis on how to generate and maintain financial stability through strongleadership.

Inthe final two semesters, Management, Finance and Economics are studied indepth. These

topicsare supported by academic research studies and Mathematics, Entrepreneurshipand

InterculturalCompetence, to provide the graduates with the full range of skills necessary tobe able to conduct business at an international level.
