The programme trains highly qualified top level managers for public and private sector. It equips future managers with skills necessary in a fast changing business environment. A special focus of the programme is on acquisition of applied knowledge in business environment management, achieved through practical classes, applied research projects and a master’s thesis. Since entrepreneurship is acknowledged as a strategic priority, Latvia needs highly qualified managers who would offer their investment into the development of Latvian economy. The goal of the study programme is to offer up-to-date knowledge and relevant skills, specifically for modelling, simulation, use of e-technologies (RFID, GIS, telecommunications, networking etc.) and knowledge management. The programme is characterised by an interdisciplinary approach where, respecting different skills of the student, new knowledge can be acquired as a result. The students are oriented to further activity in science by participating in the research of Socio-technical Systems Engineering Institute and attending conferences. The goal of the study programme is to train highly qualified, theoretically and practically educated, competent, competitive specialists and managers with broad interdisciplinary knowledge, ability to create, introduce and evaluate public policies and finally provide effective communication regarding these policies. The programme combines courses that, in an integrated manner, offer wide and deep view on social, political, economic and communication processes, basing the main focus on development of critical and analytical and research skills.
