Master's degree is the second levelof higher education. VolSU implements 35 Master’s degree majors in thefollowing areas of knowledge: Mathematical and Natural Sciences; Engineering,Technologies and Technical Sciences; Social Sciences; Education and PedagogicalSciences; Human Sciences. The standard duration of study is 2 years. Master’sdegree programs allow students to deepen their knowledge in chosen fields ofexpertise. Students can also change the vector of education and choose adifferent field of study. For admission to a master's degree program anapplicant must pass the entrance exams.

After graduating from a Master’sdegree program students may continue their education in a Ph.D. program. Afterits completion students defend the dissertation for a scientific degree ofcandidate of Sciences. The standard period of study is 3 years.
