INDIAN LAW INSTITUTE
About
INDIAN LAW INSTITUTE, NEW DELHI
The Indian Law Institute was established in 1956 as a result of the efforts of the leading jurists of India for over a number of years. It is a truism that a sound legal order is the basis of a democratic society, because law is one of the major instrumentalities by which a society can hope to prosper and develop. The Institute plays vital role for reinvigorating legal research as the law, the legal research and the legal education had been neglected areas in India, both before and after the independence. The Institute is consistently contributing for a sustained institutionalized research encompassing projects requiring field studies and group thinking. The Indian Law Institute is the only Deemed University of Higher Education and Research in Law, under the aegis of Supreme Court of India and under Administrative Control of Ministry of Law & Justice, Govt. of India. Chief Justice of India is Ex-officio President, Minister of Law & Justice is Ex-officio Vice-President of the Institute. Secretary, Deptt. Of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, Sectetary, Deptt. Of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance and Secretary, Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development are Ex-officio Members of the Governing Council / Executive Committee of the Institute.
