Lipetsk State Technical University

The scientific and educational structure of university includes the metallurgical institute, the mechanical engineering institute, the research institute, as well as eight faculties: the physics and technology faculty, the transport engineering faculty, the construction faculty, the automation and computer science faculty, the faculty of economics, the faculty of humanities, social sciences and law, the correspondence faculty, the faculty of pre-university training. This structure makes it possible to realize the program of training students according to the Russian federal educational standards in 67 bachelor’s programs, 8 specialist’s programs, 42 master’s programs and 7 programs of secondary professional education.

A top-priority direction in the development of industry in the Lipetsk region is mechanical engineering. Considering the need of the region in such specialists, LSTU organized the mechanical engineering institute in 2012. The joint efforts of the University scientists, on the one hand, and of highly-skilled expert engineers, on the other, laid the foundation of innovative cooperation for the purpose of training specialists for the machine-building industry with account of regional specifics and the development of fundamental and applied researches.

Students’ research activity within the framework of the Students’ research society started on June 2 2009 is the main component of the university’s research. Younger students are involved in scientific research taking part in and winning medals and diplomas of Russian and international scientific forums. Students’ scientific conferences, competitions in different subjects, creative contests and festivals are organized at the university annually.

In 2017, LSTU students won the Case-in International Engineering Championship. In 2018, they gained a victory in the All-Russian competition of the Innovation Development Agency «IT-START». In 2017 and 2018, the student team became the prize-winner of the Russian Energy Week in Moscow. 

In 2019, LSTU team “SpeakEasy” received the cup of the start-up school for technological entrepreneurship “IT-Start”. LSTU students became the members of the Russian national team in the finals of the International Championship in Technological Strategy “Metal Cup. 4th Industrial Revolution” in Krasnoyarsk (September 16-19, 2019). The team of LSTU “Digerati” won the final of the Student League of the VII International Engineering Championship “Case-in” in the category “Metallurgy” (May 30-31, 2019).

Since its foundation, Lipetsk State Technical University has always been oriented to training highly qualified specialists with profound fundamental and innovative knowledge and capable to make a significant contribution to the development of the Russian and regional industry and science.
