American University of Ras Al Khaimah

The American University of Ras AlKhaimah (AURAK) is an independent, co-educational, state-owned institution of highereducation that provides an integrated North American-style, undergraduate andgraduate education, with a strong focus on the local indigenous culture.  The North American model of higher educationnot only emphasizes the cultivation of specific skills in a variety of academicfields, but also promotes general education courses through which studentsencounter new ideas and are encouraged to think critically about local andglobal issues.

AURAK has emerged as a prestigiousinstitution of higher learning in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). AURAK islicensed by the Ministry of Education of the United Arab Emirates. AURAK is accreditedinternationally by the US regional body of accreditation, Southern Associationof Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), since January 2018.In June 2020, AURAK has earned a QS 5 Stars rating. 

The university offers eighteenundergraduate programs and four graduate programs – a total of twenty-two programs. All programs are accredited by the UAE’sMinistry of Education through the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).  All nine engineering programs at AURAK areaccredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).The School of Business has received a letter from the Association to AdvanceCollegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accepting its initial self-evaluationreport in its ongoing accreditation process.
