Cardiff University was ranked as one of the world’s top 154 Universities, reaching #25 in the world for Communication & Media Studies, #37 for Architecture/Built Environment, #43 for Engineering - Mineral & Mining, and #50 for Dentistry, in addition to English Language & Literature, Geography, Pharmacy & Pharmacology, Psychology, and Social Policy & Administration all ranking in the top 100 according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019.

In recent years, we have welcomed scholars through Chevening Scholarships, Santander Scholarships, Fulbright Scholarships, China Scholarships Council and the Commonwealth Scholarship Programme. In addition to this, Cardiff University offers International Foundation Scholarships, Postgraduate Taught Scholarships, PhD Research Scholarships, The Beacon Scholarship, CONACYT Scholarship, and its own lucrative scheme, the Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship and International Scholarship for Research Excellence. In 2018, £2m worth of funding was made available to international students across a range of disciplines at all study levels.
In addition, country scholarships of £5,000 are also available to students from Lebanon, Pakistan, Vietnam, Nigeria, Kenya, and the Philippines.
There is a dedicated Doctoral Academy providing support and facilities for postgraduates. The Students’ Union also offers a dedicated programme of events to bring together the postgraduate community throughout the year. There are also exclusive social spaces and study areas for postgraduate students located on campus.
International postgraduate students are guaranteed a single occupancy place in Cardiff University accommodation if their course begins in September. Unusually, most of the University’s student accommodation is within easy walking distance of lecture theatres, libraries and the Students’ Union, saving students time and money. There is a wide range of accommodation available for postgraduate students, such as quiet living spaces, women’s only accommodation, and family flats.
