For more than 50 years of its history, LSTU has been committed to the concept of its development concentrated on guaranteeing the quality of professional training of highly qualified work force and on raising the prestige of engineering education and science.
Today in LSTU:
‣ the share of scientific and pedagogical workers with the doctor’s and candidate’s degrees amounts to 70%;
‣ postgraduate training is performed in 18 specialities and 38 specialisations, Doctor’s degree seekers are trained in 8 scientific specialities, there are 4 dissertation councils;
‣ the priority research directions are: energy, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, construction, IT and SMART-technologies;
‣ there are 14 educational and laboratory buildings, a scientific and technical library with 900,000 storage units and about 60,000 full-text electronic documents, a student dormitory, a sports complex with a swimming pool, modern laboratory equipment etc.;
‣ international research and educational cooperation develops on the basis of 37 bilateral (multilateral) agreements. LSTU cooperates with higher education institutions of Italy, Denmark, Germany, Poland, China, Bulgaria, Serbia, Slovakia, Portugal and neighboring countries;
‣ a developed system of strategic partnership with the leading industrial enterprises of the priority clusters of the regional economy (Novolipetsk Steel – NLMK, Indesit International, Lebedyan Machine-building Plant Ltd, Yokohama rpz Ltd etc.).
All this makes the Lipetsk State Technical University a reliable basis for training top-quality workforce and their employment in various spheres of production and economy of the Lipetsk region, the Central Chernozem region, the country as a whole.
The long-term strategic partner of LSTU and the main employer of the region is Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) – the largest metallurgical company of the world. In 2010, a metallurgical institute was formed in LSTU as a large educational and scientific complex with its long-term perspective of activities based on practice-oriented training specialists for NLMK. In order to adapt students to the industrial environment through practical training, since 2004 NLMK has been implementing an effective program of additional professional on-the-job training for LSTU senior students guaranteeing their employment.
