Research is one of the top priorities of Masaryk University – Its research activities are not limited to the Czech Republic: Masaryk University researchers work on every continent. The university even operates the first Czech Antarctic station where scientists are engaged in long-term research of the ecosystem.

The university intensively cooperates with acknowledged international universities and research institutions. Its scientists and scholars have gained wide international recognition in various fields.

A key role in research activities is played by the CEITEC – The Central European Institute of Technology. It is a consortium of six partners including the most prominent universities and research institutes in Brno. Its laboratories for nearly 600 scientists and more than 1,200 students, equipped with first-class technologies, create optimal conditions for both basic and applied research in the fields of life sciences, advanced materials and technologies.
