Located in Patagonia - the sparsely populated region of South America shared by Chile and Argentina - the National University of the Patagonia San Juan Bosco has been in existence since 1980. It was formed by merging two pre-existing universities, the Universidad de San Juan Bosco and the Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia.
Teaching at the university covers engineering, economics, humanities, law and natural sciences. Depending on your choice of subject, you will be based on a different university campus as the university is spread across several Patagonian cities. There is also a central faculty in Comodoro Rivadavia. Across these various locations, the university has approximately 15,000 students enrolled.
Notably, the university became the first in Argentina to make its classes available to residents of the Falkland Islands. To do this, the academic programs were translated into English and a special scholarship system was established to encourage students to enroll.
