Tashkent Universityof Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi (formerlyTashkent Electro technical Institute of Communications) was established in1955.
Nukus, Urgench,Karshi, Samarkand and Fergana branches of the Tashkent University ofInformation Technologies have been organized on 2005 as regional branches.
Tashkent Universityof Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi since September2018 for the first time in the Republic of Uzbekistan has passed and introducedthe credit system of education.
The University andits regional branches have 13 schools, 62 departments and training is beingheld in 23 areas and specialties of education, including 9 majors ofundergraduate and 17 specialties of masters.
The Universityemploys 605 teachers and professors, including 3 academicians, 35 doctors and professors,149 candidates of sciences and associate professors. Professor-teachers with Ph.D.makeup 32.8% of total.
The universityestablished cooperation with 42 universities, 8 research centers, 12enterprises and organizations from 26 foreign countries (South Korea, Japan,Germany, France, the USA, India, etc.) and 73 cooperation agreements and amemorandum of understanding were signed on mutual understanding.
Every year 15 foreign professors are involved in the educational process of TUIT and 50 professors and teachers of TUIT travelabroad to exchange experience. And also, there is students mobility program,every year 30 students of TUIT travel abroad on this program.
In order to developthe university and its affiliates, together with leading experts, work is carried out on a project fundedby JICA project (Japan) in the amount of $ 1.6 million. As a result of this the project, the “Educational Media training Center” is designed to perform laboratory and practical studies and conduct researchwork of students in the field of Media technologies.
Tashkent Universityof Information Technologies is implementing 12 projects funded by the EuropeanCommission under the ERASMUS+ program.
An agreement wassigned on the establishment of Dual degree program and joint training of specialistswith higher education between Tashkent University of Information Technologiesnamed after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi and the Belarusian State University ofInformatics and Radio Electronics. In accordance with this agreement, startingfrom the 2019-2020 academic year, students enrolled to TUIT to the jointfaculty of TUIT-BSUIR for training in the following areas: InformationTechnology Software; Programmable mobile systems; Artificial Intelligence.
According to theresults of 2018, the State Inspectorate for Quality Supervision of Educationunder the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan published a ratingof higher educational institutions, in which the Tashkent University ofInformation Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi takes the 4thplace among 57 universities.
