Universidad de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas (UNICACH)” is one of the most important institutions of higher education in the southeast region of Mexico. Its main offices and campus are located in the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas.
Our university has 8, 892 students enrolled and an academic and educational staff of 900 teachers in our 13 campuses. Within these premises, 41 undergrad and 22 postgraduate programs in the areas of arts and humanities; engineering, manufacturing and construction; natural sciences; health sciences; social sciences; administration and business; and agronomy and education are expertly imparted.
The history of its foundation is tightly intertwined to the historical development of the southeast region of Mexico and it is the result of the evolution of Instituto de Ciencias y Artes de Chiapas, which was founded in 1945, and Instituto Chiapaneco de Cultura. Through the years UNICACH and its past versions have helped forge a number of valuable pillars of culture and science in the region.
Besides offering high education services, our university also provides various educational programs, courses and seminars to a great sector of the general public. It does so through musical initiation programs and foreign language learning for children, teenagers and adults; these courses are designed and imparted under international standards. Consequently, this highlights us as a leading institution in human capital formation in arts and science with a strong sense of equity that allows us to attend to the mestizo population as well as people from different ethnicities, subnational entities and foreign countries.
In addition to the previously mentioned, within our faculties and academic personnel there are academics and scholars who are internationally renowned because of their scientific and artistic output which is strongly linked to the social sector and research areas pivotal for the country’s development.
