Universitas Komputer Indonesia (UNIKOM) was officially established on Tuesday, August 8, 2000 based on the Decree of the Minister of National Education number 126/D/ 0/2000.

On Tuesday, August 8, 2000, Minister of Education Decree no. 126 / D / O / 2000 was issued for Universitas Komputer Indonesia abbreviated as UNIKOM. The decree was also as permit for the opening of 11 new study programs: undergraduate program (Computer Engineering, Information Management, Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Regional Planning and City, Legal Science, Communication Science, Governance Science) and vocational program (Interior Design, Visual Communication Design and Visual Communication Design).

Since its establishment in 2000, every year UNIKOM receive ± 2,000 new students. Last year 2014 was received as many as 3,108 new students. Until the academic year 2015/2016 there are 6 Faculties and 23 Study Programs in UNIKOM with the number of students as many as 15,000 people who come from various corners of the country and from abroad who are studying in UNIKOM.
