The University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC) is a regional public service organisation, offering teaching, research and knowledge transfer activities.

Since conferral of university status in 1997, it has established itself as a strategic tool for the local social, economic and political fabric of society and at the same time has consolidated an international outlook. It has a distinctive legal framework and governance model,  as a regional public service initiative, subject to public sector university regulations, and basing its growth on a federated structure. This latter feature is one of its key characteristics, greatly increasing the university’s potential over recent times.

Between 2014 and 2020, the University brought together the centres, courses and activities of four federated foundations within the UVic-UCC institution: the Balmes University Foundation (FUBalmes), which is the leading entity and university titleholder, the Bages University Foundation (FUBages), the Foundation for Advanced Studies in Health Sciences (FESS) and the Elisava University School Foundation (FUElisava), which joined up in 2020 as the Faculty of Design and Engineering of Barcelona.

UVic-UCC currently has three campuses in Vic, Manresa and Barcelona, and a branch campus in Granollers. There are eight faculties, offering almost 40 degree courses in fields such as biosciences, health sciences, social sciences, education, business, communication studies, design and engineering. There are also nine doctoral programmes, 31 research groups, 14 chairs and six research and knowledge transfer centres. The University also has three affiliate centres offering further courses. These are the BAU Design College, EADA Business School, and ESERP Business and Law School. In the 2020-2021 academic year there was a total of 17,130 students, of whom 9,280 were enrolled in recognised undergraduate, postgraduate, master's degree or doctoral studies.

As for teaching, the UVic-UCC training approach focuses on personal growth and professionalism of graduates, with individual monitoring and an emphasis on creativity, professional rigour and social commitment. In terms of competitive research and knowledge transfer, the last decade has been a period of substantial growth, with synergies and agreements with enterprises and institutions, and a growing national and international profile.

The UVic-UCC university project is based on academic quality and human quality in all its initiatives. For 25 years it has been a generator of knowledge and innovation, committed to cultural, social and economic progress.
