Dartmouth College has a long tradition of excellence in graduate education. Dartmouth?s first Ph.D. degree was awarded in 1885. There are currently 15 PhD programs offered through the Division of Arts and Sciences and the Medical School comprising more than 500 students. Together with Dartmouth?s professional programs more than 1300 students study at the graduate level on the Dartmouth campus, and approximately 50 Ph.D. degrees are currently awarded each year. along rapidly developing intellectual fronts.
