Karaganda Economic University was founded in 1966 by the Decision of the Council of Ministers and Resolution of the Board Centrosoyuz USSR in 1966. Also, it is specialized institution, which was entrusted with the mission of training for the system of consumer cooperatives of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and neighboring Russian regions. In 1997 Institute was transformed into Karaganda Economic University.
Currently university trains 21 bachelor specialties, 14 master specialties of scientific-pedagogic and profile directions and 3 PhD specialties.
The University has been certified by IQNet quality management system. In 2009 the University was institutionally accredited by "the Independent Kazakhstan Quality Assurance Agency in Education" with the participation of international experts. In 2011 six bachelor and master specialties were accredited by the Austrian Agency of Quality Assurance.
According to the general ranking of the Independent Agency our university is on the 3rd place among the humanitarian - economic universities of Kazakhstan and all the educational programs of the University are in the top twenty specialties according to the rating of the National Accreditation Centre.
University has 2423 full-time students, 8022 distant-learning students, 5770 distant learning students in branches / 380 faculty staff / 799 total numbers of employees.
