I.I. Polzunov Altai State Technical University was founded in Barnaul in 1942. Today AltSTU has about 18000 students and is the biggest University in the Southern part of Western Siberia. In the past 72 years the University has trained over 100000 specialists with higher education. University is a large science center conducting research in applied technical, fundamental, natural and economic spheres. University has a multi-level system of training bachelors, masters, specialists and PhD. At present AltSTU is training over 500 foreign students from Iraq, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Pakistan, India, Egypt, Nigeria, Great Britain.Every year 1200 students at AltSTU get bachelor degrees and over 200 of them continue their studies to obtain master’s degrees while the rest successfully find employment.
