About

Established in 1991, the Russian State Social University (RSSU) became the first university in the Russian Federation to launch educational programs in the areas of social work, social youth work, social insurance, social support for disabled people and social entrepreneurship.

As many as 48 undergraduate (bachelor’s) and 44 postgraduate (31 master’s degree and 13 doctoral) programs are offered by the RSSU faculties, i.e. Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Information Technologies, Faculty of Ecology and Technosphere Safety, Faculty of Communication Management, Faculty of Linguistics, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Social Work, Faculty of Sociology, Faculty of Management, Faculty of Physical Culture, Faculty of Economy, Faculty of Law, Shnittke Higher School of Music (Institute) and Faculty on Training Scientific and Pedagogical Staff.

RSSU is the leading institution in the field of social sciences in Russia, CIS and Baltic countries. Over 400000 social workers have been trained by the University. Social education in RSSU is interpreted in a broader sense as a combination of training programs for managers, state civil servants, social workers, sociologists, anthropologists, etc.

It has 11 campuses and over 25000 students. It provides excellent facilities for sports, wellness, recreation, summer camps, etc. It has one of the Russia's largest academic libraries and several dormitories.
