The University of Agriculture, Peshawar established in 1981 as full-fledged University. It is located in the historical city of Peshawar at northwest of Pakistan. The beautiful campus of the University is spread over 464 acres with state-of-the-art infrastructure and beautiful landscapes. The University has spacious research farms with green fields with crops and fruit plants further boost the beauty to the campus that makes it attractive for the students and visitors of all around the world. In addition to the main campus, the University has a beautiful sub campus spread over 250 acre of land with a vast research farm at District Mardan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of the country.

The University imparts its educational and research programs through six Faculties, 28 Departments and three Institutes. The University offers degrees in all disciplines of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences, Rural Development, Rural Sociology, Biotechnology, Management Sciences and Computer Sciences at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. All these academic programs are run under the supervision of highly qualified teachers; most of them possess PhD degrees from the leading Universities of the world. 

At present, the University is offering 17 and 44undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, respectively. The University has issued 36368 degrees so far with 23742 at undergraduate and12626 at postgraduate levels. 

Currently, total enrolled students are 7476 at the undergraduate level including 6726 male and 750 female students while at the postgraduate level the number of students is 2015 with 1582 male and 433 female students, respectively. The University is well strengthened with 257 faculty member with 220 Ph.D and 37 M.Sc (Hons)/MS/M.Phil, facilitated by 1017 supporting staff. 

Since its establishment, the University of Agriculture has been playing a vital role in imparting agricultural education and conducting basic and applied agricultural research throughout the Province, and disseminating the results of agricultural research among the farming communities and general public through its outreach/public service activities.

The University of Agriculture, Peshawar has evolved into a premier institution of higher learning in the country. This success rests on the high teaching and research standards maintained by the University over the years. The Higher Education Commission (HEC)of Pakistan recognizes all degree programs offered by University. In 2007, the HEC awarded “W” category to the University, placing it among the few selected universities of the country in the highest category.
