Alisher Navo'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature
About
The University was founded by the decree of the FirstPresident of the Republic of
Uzbekistan on 13 May 2016 by combining three academic institutions – the Faculty of
Uzbek Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek
the department of Uzbek Language and Literature of the Tashkent State Pedagogical
University named after Nizami and the Alisher Navo'i Institute of Language and
Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
This decree has become the golden page in the annals of our state, an important
stage in the ongoing large-scale reforms targeted at restoring national values and
reviving the centuries-old leading status of Uzbekistan as the cultural, educational,
and scientific centre for the peoples of Central Asia. This is a historical document,
positive impact of which could be everlasting in further development of the mother
tongue and literature.
Promoting the Uzbek language at an international level and boosting international
research on language and literature, achieving wide usage of the Uzbek language in
such fields as economy, politics and social life represents priority targets of the
university. It is engaged in elaborating the Uzbek language and literature courses
taught by professionals using the state-of-the-art techniques, creating e-books of
the Uzbek language and translating our ancient literary heritage into other world
languages.
The university is considered the basic higher educational institution for training
translators who are expected to turn the masterpieces of the Uzbek classical and
modern literature into an intellectual property of the world community,
professional development and retraining of professionals in this field, publication
of dictionaries and teaching materials in these areas.

Uzbek, which has an ancient and rich history.
As the heirs of an invaluable cultural heritage, increasing
the prestige of the Uzbek language by establishing Navo'i
Institutes worldwide.
Educating future subject matter experts that will be able
to meet the challenging demands of ever-globalising
world.
Training highly qualified scientific and pedagogical cadres
proficient in the nuances of scientific, theoretical,
philosophical and aesthetic foundations of the Uzbek
language and literature using the best and most modern
educational techniques.
Helping the students to fulfill their healthy ambitions to
become career translators and interpreters in artistic,
social, technical and other literature from Uzbek into
English and into other languages as well as from world
languages into their native language.
Contributing to build a character of active citizenry among
the students who are not indifferent to the needs of the
highly competitive society.
