Irkutsk State Transport University
About
Due to the start of a large-scale construction of the Baikal-Amur railway line, a lack of personnel necessitated the establishment an independent transport institute in the city of Irkutsk. So, Irkutsk Institute of Railway Engineers first opened its doors in Irkutsk in 1975.
For more than four decades of its existence, Irkutsk State Transport University has grown from a corporate railway university into a powerful transport educational complex in the East of Russia. Nowadays the University has a modern developed material and technical base at its disposal. The property of the University includes over 100 buildings and structures, as well as 38 teaching and laboratory buildings and 16 dormitories.
Currently, over 21 thousand people study at the University complex of IrGUPS on the programs of secondary professional and higher education.
