There are currently 23 postgraduate and doctoral degree programs taught at 9 Institutes and Higher Schools, Foreign Languages, Center of International Education and Preparatory Department.
For years Pyatigorsk State University has been known as the reputable School of Linguistics with the applied foreign languages studies which make substantial subcomponent of all professional programs with the wide choice of English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Arabic, Chinese, Turkish, Farsi. Those languages can be chosen also as the majors in professional Linguistics programs.
Apart from Linguistics, postgraduate programs at PSU encompass Business Studies, Law, Psychology, Tourism, Theology and other subjects.
Preparatory Russian School. Provided that most professional programs at PSU are taught in the Russian language, the entrants with no or limited Russian proficiency levels are advised to start preliminarily with one year full-time course at the Preparatory Russian Language School that aims to prepare students for their respective studies in their chosen departments. Preparatory Russian School students enjoy equal privileges with all other University students in terms of admittance to all university facilities as well as extracurricular activities.
Preparatory Russian School welcomes not only degree-seeking applicants aimed at further professional studies in PSU but also foreign nationals interested in improving their Russian skills to a higher level and obtaining a State Certificate of Russian as Foreign Language (TORFL) that may become essential for their professional career.
Summer Russian School annually organises an intensive course of Russian in July for international students. The program entails 20 hours per week in class Monday thru Friday. It is a tailor-cut combination of Speaking, Grammar, and Reading and with formal Certificate of Russian skills level awarded.
